By popular demand! The Jazzmistress 22.8″ Tenor guitar is a bigger version of our popular Jazzmistress ukulele.
A bespoke solid body electric tenor guitar with a painted douglas fir, meranti or sugar pine reclaimed body, maple neck and your choice of maple, curly maple, birdseye maple or wenge fret board. It features two single coil pickups, a pickup selector and a phase inversion switch. We also have a range of tonewoods to upgrade your custom build.
Available as a solid body or Thinline semi hollow body. Scale length is 22.8″ with a 35mm wide nut and the total bridge string spread of 36mm. Fitted with your choice of our custom wound alnico 5 single coil, p90, stacked p90 or humbucker pickups all made in house. Also available in an 8 string version, and left handed!
Most of the parts are created in-house from scratch, for example; the bridge control plate, pickups and the neck. The only outsourced parts are the electronics and the machine-heads.
The pick-ups are hand scatter wound and wax potted – meaning they are soaked in hot bees wax – giving them a distinctive tone with no unwanted feedback.
The woodwork is hand-routed, sanded and spray – painted in-house as well.
The Sound:
This is a pure electric solid/semi hollow body ukulele with a unique sound that lends itself to being played with over-drive and other standard electric guitar effects.
Strings are regular electric guitar strings. A set of 11’s or 12’s using no 1234 from the set works well for DGBE tuning.
